Jodhpur: A day after a Jodhpur court sentenced actor Salman Khan to five years of imprisonment for killing blackbuck, the district and sessions court on Friday, while hearing an application from Khan’s counsel for bail and suspension of the sentence, called for records pertaining to the trial court judgment.
The court will now hear the matter on Saturday. Till then, Khan will be lodged at Jodhpur Central Jail. A five-year jail sentence was awarded to him by a magistrate’s court on Thursday in a 19-year-old blackbuck poaching case.
The court will also consider Mr. Khan’s appeal, running into 51 pages and raising 54 grounds, against the magistrate’s verdict.
The 52-year-old actor has been lodged as prisoner number 106 in the security ward of the Central Jail here. His sisters Arpita and Alvira, bodyguard Shera and actress Preity Zinta met him in the jail on Friday. The judge will hear the prosecution’s arguments on Saturday.
