Kolkata: Justice Tapobrata Chakravarty at the Calcutta High Court ended hearing of BJP’s rath yatra case. HC to give verdict on Thursday. In this case, Justice has given some time to state and the BJP on Thursday. After the hearing, Justice told that the court will give 15 minutes to the BJP tomorrow and 10 minutes to the state. The verdict will be pronounced soon after.
The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday, 19 December, resumed hearing BJP’s Rath Yatra petition. Supreme Court lawyer Anand Grover placed arguments in court on behalf of police.
The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday asked the Bharatiya Janata Party to provide three tentative dates for its proposed Rath Yatra in Bengal and submit a list of self-restrictions to be followed during the rally.
The BJP had moved court with a fresh plea on Monday after the Bengal government denied permission for the statewide rally, also known as ‘Ganatantra Bachao Yatra’ (save democracy rally), earlier this week, stating there was “grave apprehension of major breach of peace and communal violence during and in the aftermath” of the programme.
