HC Stays Police Probe On Narada Sting

Kolkata: Delivering another blow to the state the Calcutta High Court on Friday retained the stay order on police probe in Narada sting.

The division bench of the HC has ordered the Kolkata police to put a stop on the investigation till further notice.

The Calcutta High Court previously had put a stay order on the probe of Narada till August 19 until further statements would be issued. Post this, Matthew Samuel was detained at the Delhi Airport while he was returning back from Dubai. After the intervention of the Calcutta Police, he was released.

On the other hand, the forensic report of the Narada video footages came from the Chandigarh and Hyderabad laboratories which stated that they failed to open several footages.

Pre Bengal assembly elections in 2016, the Narada news portal had published several footages which showed several TMC leaders accepting bribes promising favours in return for a fictitious company in the state.
