HC Relief To Gurung, No Arrest Till Next Hearing


Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday hearing an anticipatory bail plea filed by Bimal Gurung and others in Madan Tamang murder case has stayed their arrest till next hearing scheduled for three weeks later.

The Division Bench of Justice Ashim Kumar Roy also lashed out at the CBI for their unprofessional attitude towards handling the case. He also directed CBI to submit an affidavit on the case within two weeks.

It is to be noted that arrest warrant has been issued against Madan Tamang and others after CBI filed chargesheet accusing Gurung and Co. in Madan Tamang murder case. Gurung and other Morcha leaders had moved Calcutta High Court seeking anticipatory bail.

On the other hand Bharati Tamang, the wife of Madan Tamang ended her hunger strike saying that she respects the decision of High Court. She has been staging hunger strike at Darjeeling for the last two days seeking justice for her deceased husband.
