HC Adjourns Hearing WB’s Plea Over CBI’s Attempt To Question Rajeev Kumar

Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court, which was all set to hear the West Bengal government’s plea against the CBI’s attempt to question Rajeev Kumar at his residence despite a stay order, has adjourned the hearing till Thursday as the matter is sub-judice in Supreme Court.

“CJI bench ordered that Rajeev Kumar would make himself available in the light of prayer of the application of CBI to join the investigation, make himself available & cooperate fully. The SC pointed out that no coercive steps would be taken,” said Nalin Kohli, senior lawyer and BJP leader.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has welcomed the SC order on Kolkata police chief Rajeev Kumar. Saying it is a “victory of the people”, Mamata said our stand has been vindicated.
