Port Elizabeth: South African cricketer Hashim Amla made headlines on Wednesday despite scoring only 48 against Sri Lanka.
The batsman became the 10,00th lbw victim in Test cricket when he was dismissed for a score of 48 by Sri Lanka’s Nuwan Pradeep during the first match in Port Elizabeth. Amla’s dismissal was of little help for the subcontinent team as South Africa piled up 351 runs in the second innings on Day 3, they now lead by 432 runs.
Opener Stephen Cook smashed 117 to put South Africa in command on Wednesday. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 205 runs in the first innings in reply to the Proteas’ first innings total of 286.
