New Delhi: Legendary Indian batsman and Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar turns 45 on April 24, 2018. The right-handed batsman, popularly known as the Master Blaster, is regarded as one of the greatest cricketers of all-time.
He made his debut as a 16-year-old against Pakistan, who boasted of a feared pace attack. Despite a bloodied nose and a few failures, the little boy from Dadar scaled new peaks and became the greatest batsman since the days of Don Bradman.
From the maidans of Mumbai, a baby-faced Sachin travelled the world, awed presidents and kings and tamed seamers, pacers and spinners across Australia, England, South Africa, West Indies and New Zealand.
Sachin Tendulkar is the only player to have scored one hundred international centuries, the holder of the record for the most number of runs in both Test and ODI, and the only player to complete over 30,000 runs in the international cricket. The legendary cricketer has been awarded Arjuna Award (1994), Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna (1997-98), Padma Shri (1999), Padma Vibhushan (2008), Bharat Ratna (2014) while Wisden Cricketer of the Year (1997), Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World (2010), BCCI Cricketer of the Year award (2011).
Sachin Tendulkar’s wife Anjali is a doctor. They have two kids- son Arjun Tendulkar and daughter Sara Tendulkar. He has been a part of the Mumbai Indians franchise in the IPL, first as a player and then as a mentor.
Sachin also released his autobiography “Playing It My Way”. The legend also acted in a movie, “Sachin: A Billion Dreams”, which is based on his own life. The 2017 Indian docudrama-biographical film hit the screens on 26 May 2017.
