‘Hajaar Haath’ Durga Avatar In Bengal Again

Kanthi: Another Durga puja committee this year has come up with the Goddess in her ‘Hajaar Haath’ (one thousand hands) avatar again. This time it is East Midnapore of West Bengal.

This concept was earlier introduced by the popular puja committee in Kolkata. Two years ago the ‘Deshapriya Park’ in south Kolkata had made the ‘Hajaar Haath’ (one thousand hands) Durga avatar. Prominent sculptor Mintu Pal made the idol then.

This year Egra Moitree Sangha of East Midnapore has organised their first Puja. Hence the organisers are eager to create a buzz in Bengal with their thousand hands Durga.
Not only the idol but also the dazzling and the illuminating pandal decorations will surprise everyone. The pandal decoration is made based on the theme. Their theme is ‘Ramayana’. The important episodes of Ramayana will be presented with subtlety in different parts of the puja ‘Mandap’.Puja Committee Secretary Gautam Das said, “There are no theme puja in village. So the villagers have to travel far away to see Puja. We have started the first Puja this year, considering the people of the village. Our budget is Rs 15 lakhs.”
