Gunmen attacks cricket match, kills two

Kabul: Gunmen killed at least two people and kidnapped others in an assault on a cricket match in a rural area near the Pakistan border.

The police chief of Paktia province, Gen Zelmai Oryakhail, said that gunmen opened fire on the Match on Thursday killing a police officer and a civilian. Five other people were also injured in the attack.

Paktia’s acting governor Abdul Wali Sahee said that 36 people, mostly teenagers were kidnapped by the gunmen. All of them except three have been freed. No group has yet claimed the responsibility of the attack though officials said that they suspect that the assault was launched by Talibans.
