Gunman shoots down Pakistani rights activist


Islamabad: Unknown gunmen shot down a prominent Pakistani rights activist as she was returning home after hosting a seminar on human rights abuses in Baluchistan province.

Sabeen Mahmud, the director of The Second Floor (T2F) café which organizes debates and art events, was attacked after she left the venue in her car along with her mother.

She died on her way to the hospital. Doctors retrieved five bullets from her body.

Her mother also sustained bullet injuries and is said to be in a critical condition.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has condemned the incident and ordered an investigation.
