Gunfight Broke Out In Jammu, CRPF Jawan Injured


Srinagar:  A militant was killed and forces’ personnel, including an officer, were wounded in an ongoing gunfight with the militants in Jhajjar Kotli forests of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

An official told SDPO Nagrota, driver of SHO Katra and three CRPF personnel were wounded in the gunfight which occurred after militants opened fire on a search party of the forces. Three suspected militants who were travelling on a truck slipped into the forests after they were intercepted by the forces near a dhaba yesterday morning. Soon, a massive search operation was launched and a high alert was sounded in the region.

Today morning, contact was again established with the militants. “Firing is going on from both sides,” said an official. Meanwhile, police said that a militant was killed in the ongoing operation. “A militant was killed. SDPO Nagrota and some jawans of the CRPF injured. Encounter going on,” police said on Twitter.
