Kolkata: When one is asked to remember any tour experience, the person inevitably falls back to the memories of travelling over the hills of Gulmarg or sitting and experiencing real thrill in the cable cars of Rajgir. Well, the outstationed experience is now going to become a day to day affair for any city dweller wishing to travel from Howrah station to Nabanna.
The State Government has taken an initiative to connect the two destinations parallel to the Ganges through a ropeway. A detailed report regarding the project has also been submitted by the KMDA. The time taken to traverse the distance by road is around an hour. By availing this facility one can reach his destination within just 15 minutes. After Kolkata becoming the first Wi-Fi enabled city, the cable-car concept is sure to add extra feather on the crown of City Of Joy and its twin city.
According to reports, there will be seven stations between Howrah and Nabanna. Howrah Maidan, Mullick Fatak, Shibpur tram depot are likely to be some of the places of halts. The minimum fare of boarding a cable car will be something between Rs. 7.50 to Rs.10. Primarily, there will be 125 cable cars to cater the people. According to sources at Nabanna, if the plan and the project work out, the State Govt. will think of bringing in cable car facilities between the routes of Sealdah and Dalhousie.
