Guard Of Honour For The Dead CID Officers In Malda


Malda: The two officers of the Bomb Disposal Squad who died on Monday night would be given a Guard of Honour at the Malda police line on Tuesday.

ASI Bisudananda Mishra, Constable Subrata Choudhury and SI Manirujjaman Shekh were trying to dispose off some bombs that were discovered just beside the house, where a crude bomb took off on that morning. All the three officers were admitted to the Malda Medical College and Hospital. ASI Bisudananda and Constable Subrata’s condition worsened and decision was taken to shift them to SSKM in Kolkata. But both ASI and the constable succumbed to their injuries and died while they were being shifted.

ASI Bisudananda Mishra and Constable Subrata Choudhury would be given the Guard of Honour at the Malda police line. LEG CId Damphal Power, Malda’s District Magistrate and the Police Super would be present.

SI Manirujjaman Shekh was shifted to the SSKM on Monday night. His condition is critical. The doctors said that though he is responding to the treatments, yet he remains critical. His face and both his eyes suffered heavy injuries. The doctors are worried about both his eyes. An operation might be performed on Tuesday.

Earlier on Monday, a crude bomb went off while some goons were trying to make it. The explosion was huge which killed 4 bomb makers on the spot. 6 others were injured and were admitted to the Malda Medical College and Hospital. Political pressure mounted when the news of the involvement of a TMC leader was doing the rounds. As a result, the police started searching the area and discovered 2 bags full of two kinds of explosives. The bomb disposal squad was called for immediate disposal. But unfortunately the 2 officers died when those explosives took off. It has been said that the officers were not properly equipped.
