New Delhi: Ever since the government introduced the Goods and Service Tax (GST), jokes and memes have been flooding social media platforms. The complexity of the tax reform took a toll as even though the government tried their best to explain the reform, most people were just confused about what it meant for them. People ended up rolling out their dilemma, debate and experiences in tweets. To help address people’s queries, the government also set up an official Twitter handle. And this time, a tweet from GST’s official Twitter account has left everyone in splits!
On October 7, GST, whose official handle is @GOI, tweeted out a message saying just one word: “NO!” That’s it, nothing more. The ever-vigilant Twitterati took note of the message and couldn’t stop roasting the handle. While few couldn’t stop laughing, others were on a roll to add some context to the tweet. From Bollywood’s melodramatic ‘Nahiiiiiiiiiii’ to what girls usually say to a date proposal, Tweeple found hilarious but rather suitable conjunctures to use as a reply.

Although it has been deleted now, the microblogging site had already been bombarded with some hilarious reactions.
Dammit GST@GoI removed that "No" tweet. Wide swathes of Twitter today are going to seem much more serious than they are.

And of course someone wondered who handles the profile! Some of them also expressed their disappointment after the tweet was deleted.
Meanwhile, another tweet was sent out by the handle a minute later which read, “No, it is not permissible. Pl see Rule 117(1) of CGST Rules.” But, it is not sure to whose query it was directed to. This is not the first time when a government Twitter handle left everyone cracking up. Remember when last month on Dusshera, UIDAI denied ‘Raavan’ an Aadhaar card, and Tweeple couldn’t stop laughing?
