GST Bill to be placed in RS on Tuesday

New Delhi: The central government will be bringing in the GST bill in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, although doubts persist whether Congress would allow the passage of the Constitution Amendment bill.

The bill will be moved in by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley bill, incorporating the recommendations made by a House Select Committee.

The Goods and Service Taxe(GST) Bill will seek to replace all the indirect taxes with a uniform Levy and has already been approved by the Lok Sabha and in the last session was referred to a select Committee of the Rajya Sabha.

The panel has given its report endorsing majority of the provisions, while suggesting changes in compensation to states and definition of supply for the purpose of states levying additional one per cent tax.
