New Delhi: After taking over as Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his maiden address in Lok Sabha. He specifically thanked Modi for sanctioning an AIIMS center in Gorakhpur, which he has represented five times.

Addressing the Parliament during the budget session, Adityanath also thanked Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for breathing new life into our country’s economy.

“The finance minister has renergised the economy,” he said. The chief minister also sought to assuage concerns of governance in the state saying his government will be for everyone, not specifically for any caste or community.

Taking a dig at the previous Akhilesh-led Samajwadi Party government in the state, the chief minister said they did not utilise most of the funds allocated by the central government.

He further added that there have been no communal riots in Gorakhpur in the last 15 years. Seeking to credit the Modi-led government at the Centre, Adityanath said it has worked for all sections of society without any discrimination.

Earlier in the day, Adityanath had met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and discussed various issues related to the state. During the meeting, the Chief Minister also briefed the Home Minister about different aspects of the state government, official sources told PTI. Meanwhile, Rajnath Singh, who was himself a former chief minister of the state, conveyed best wishes to the new government and assured all help from the Centre.

In the meantime, allocation of ministerial berths in Adityanath’s council of ministers is likely to come up in the chief minister’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah in Delhi on Monday.
