Kolkata: The state government in a bid to foil opposition bandh on April 30 has announced that an additional 25% buses will run on the day and autos will be available.
The Transport Secretary Alapan Banerjee said that every necessary steps will be initiated to forestall any harassment to the daily passengers. As per the reports the Joint Council, a forum of bus owners will not participate in the strike and will ply buses as usual.
The state government had issued a circular directing all the government employees to attend office.
The CPM and BJP has called a state wide 12 hours strike on April 30 to protest sporadic violence during the municipal polls.
