Kolkata: The reason for raising the price of milk by Rs 8 was brought up at the Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday. The Animal Resource Develpoment Minsiter of the State, Swapan Debnath had to face the question at the Assembly by the Oppositions. CPM MLA, Dhiren Bagdi wanted to know the reason for making milk dearer in the market. Subsequently, he said that Bengal has slipped down to the 12th place in terms of producing milk in the country. Hence, based on this fact, how come the state government feels proud of being a leading milk producing state in the country, questioned Bagdi. Facing the question, the state minister was caught in the wrong foot. He was seen accepting the fact that state has not been able to meet even the 50 per cent demand associated with milk, meat and egg.
