The next course of action will be decided at all political parties meeting of the Hills. The Committee had announced to start fast unto death from July 15. Members of all hill-based parties were expected to be part of this protest. The Gorkhas have been holding indefinite strike demanding a separate state of Gorkhaland.

On June 17, three Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) protestors were killed in clashes that broke out in Darjeeling, the sixth day of the party’s indefinite shutdown demanding a separate Gorkhaland. On July 15, the indefinite strike will touch the mark of one month.
