Gorkhaland Demand: Gurung Roars ‘Delhi Chalo’

Kolkata: Intensifying agitation for Gorkhaland, Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) supremo Bimal Gurung will undertake a foot march to New Delhi. The GJM leader has announced that he will cover a distance of 1600 km from Darjeeling to Delhi on foot with supporters.

GJM spokesperson said that the party has already sought permission from West Bengal and Bihar government to organize the march. Sources said that the request is yet to be approved.

GJM is likely to hold a key meet with Union Minister of State Kiren Rijiju on November 17 or 18 to discuss the issue. Morcha has recently stepped up its activities in the hills demanding Gorkhaland.

The Morcha has refrained from celebrating Diwali this year to mark their protest and said that Diwali will be celebrated after the demand of Gorkhaland is fulfilled.
