Kolkata: A few AC buses have been closed within few days of launch. Banglashree buses are suffering due to lack of passengers. However, the state government decided to reduce the fares of the AC buses for long distance.
Recently, due to the increase in fuel prices, various types of buses, taxis fair is increased. According to sources, AC Volvo Intercity and Inter State AC Volvo fair revised by Rs 2. 20 per Kilometer. In case of AC normal buses, it is Rs 2 per kilometer.
According to the sources, the fair of the long-distance government AC buses has been reduced by 10 to 18 percent. Likewise, the fair of the Banglashree Express bus is also reduced. An official from Nabanna told a news agency that there is no doubt about the demand of AC buses. So goverment took decision to reduce the fairs to get more passengers.
The Banglashree Express bus service between Kolkata and the district headquarters was flagged off by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on July 18. The air-conditioned Volvo bus service has been named such by the Chief Minister herself. The buses were flagged off in front of Nabanna. The decision to start the bus service was taken last March.
