Kolkata: In terms of making the state government employees happy, the Mamata Banerjee government pleased them with the increments of holidays.
Few days ago, on Sept 7 Banerjee held a conference with the state Government employee at Kolkata’s Nazrul Mancha where she declared that from January on-wards the DA has been hiked by 15%. Though, this decision was slammed by the Calcutta High Court.
The observation came after some employees made a union and moved to the High Court demanding pending DA from the state government.
On the same day, while addressing the employees Banerjee, herself gave a pre-Durga Puja vacation plan to the employees. From next year onwards the state government has declared the Durga Puja vacation from Panchami which was followed by this year also.
Following this year’s Durga Puja dates the employees gates 13 days long vacation from 26th September to 9th October. On a same way the employees will be having vacation of total 16 days in the upcoming Durga Puja.
Earlier the state Government has also raised its employees’ bonus by Rs. 200 and salary advance by Rs. 1000.
After the Durga Puja celebrations the state is all set to enjoy the Kali Puja or Diwali. As per dates on 6th November (Tuesday) the city will celebrate Kali Puja. And then on Friday (9th November) there will be celebration of Bhaifota. But the celebrations will be continued among the state government employees because the Chief Minister herself said that she will arrange four-day holiday package for the workers. She also said that, earlier there were no such vacations provided to the state employee.
However they will miss their two holidays, Holi and Bengali New Year. Apart from this there is no boundary in-front of the state employees to celebrate any occasion.
