Chennai: A GoAir plane with 168 passengers, including an infant, hit an aerobridge at Chennai airport on Thursday damaging a portion of the aircraft. The aerobridge operator was allegedly on the phone when the aircraft was trying to align itself.
The aircraft, an A 320, had reportedly come from Mumbai at 6.22 am when the incident took place. Its fuselage was damaged when it hit the aerobridge. Sources say the aerobridge operator was on the phone and “moving very fast” despite the airline staff asking him not to.
The plane has now been grounded. Passengers had to get off the plane from the rear door of the aircraft using a step ladder.
