Goa CM to demand CBI probe in water developmental project

Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Sunday said that he will demand a CBI probe into the allegations of New Jersey-based construction management firm bribing Indian officials for a water developmental project in the state. The US firm has been charged for bribing Indian officials with several crores to win two major water developmental projects in Goa and Guwahati.

He said, “Since it is an international matter, Goa police can’t investigate it. That is why the government has decided to write to Prime Minister and Union Home Minister demanding a CBI inquiry into it. Truth should be revealed to the people.”

Congress leader Digambar Kamat was the Chief Minister and Churchill Alemao was Public Works Department Minister when the contracts were awarded.
