New Delhi: Legendary Pakistani artiste Ghulam Ali’s event has been cancelled by a Delhi hotel allegedly over a threat by the fringe group Hindu Sena,
The ghazal singer was to launch the music of ‘Ghar Wapsi’, a film by TV presenter Suhaib Illyasi, this evening at the Royal Plaza hotel in the centre of Delhi.
While cancelling the press interaction, hotel officials allegedly cited threats by the Hindu Sena as well as the Bajrang Dal, an outfit affiliated to the RSS or Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
Suhaib Ilyasi had filed a police complaint saying he received a threat on the phone from Vishnu Gupta, the chief of the Hindu Sena.
Ghulam Ali’s performance in Mumbai was cancelled in October over aggressive protests by the Shiv Sena, which rules Maharashtra along with the BJP.
Since then, the singer has performed in Kolkata and Lucknow.
