New Delhi: Geeta, a deaf-mute Indian woman who accidentally crossed over to Pakistan more than a decade ago, on Monday arrived in New Delhi. However, the girl as of now has refused to recognize her family after meeting them, said External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in a press conference.
“No matter if we find her parents or not, she is a daughter of India and we will take care of her,” said Swaraj adding that Geeta has said that Mahto family is not hers. If the DNA reports are not in favour of Janardhan Mahato and family, Swaraj said that a fresh search would be launched to look for her parents.
Welcoming Geeta, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said, “A daughter returns home. Geeta arrives in New Delhi accompanied by members of Edhi Foundation.”
