Kolkata: The two accused teachers of GD Birla Centre for Education, who were arrested yesterday for sexually abusing a nursery girl in the school, have been remanded in two days police custody on Saturday.
Arrested teachers Abhishek Roy and Md Mafizzudin were produced in the Alipore court in the city today afternoon amidst tight police security to avert any public backlash. The Bar Association at Alipore court had resolved that no lawyer will represent the two.
Earlier, The angry parents continued their protest outside GD Birla Centre for Education school in Kolkata on Saturday morning.
A 4 year old student was sexually molested by her two PT teachers in the school premises on Friday. Later on the same day those two teachers, Abhishekh Roy and Md Mafizuddin of the GD Birla Centre for Education school in south Kolkata were arrested.
The two accused teachers were arrested on Friday evening under Posco law after police verified a medical report of the government owned SSKM Hospital and interrogating the eight witnesses and the two accused.
Principal Sharmila Nath told that the school was also conducting an internal investigation into the matter and assured that by Monday the whole school will come under CCTV surveillance.
Meanwhile, the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education has formed a four-member committee to investigate the matter and submit a report within 24 hours.
The physical education teacher of GD Birla Centre, Ranikuthi allegedly forced the girl into the toilet where the sexual assault happened, the parents alleged. The child recounted her horror to her parents and identified the physical education teacher from a photo.
