Jalpaiguri: People have been undergoing troubles for the demonetisation of Rs 500 and 1000 currency notes. Under this situation, another set of problems have emerged with some dealers refusing to accept Rs. 10 coins.

Bikram Jha of Jalpaiguri Municipality Ward No 25 has filed a written complaint in this connection at Kotoyali police station against the LPG dealer of Madan Mohan Gas service on Thursday. Jha said his brother Dibendu Maitry visited the service counter to collect a gas cylinder after which he paid a Rs 500 note and 10 Rupees Coins. He took to surprise when service counter did accept Rs 500 but refused Rs 10 coins. He managed to pay his bill in notes of Rs. 10.

District Magistrate of Jalpaiguri, Mukta Arjo said “I haven’t received any such complaint regarding Rs. 10 coins being declined by service providers. I can only follow the RBI guidelines if I come across the same.”
However, LPG dealers refuted “ We did accept the coins initially. But now customers are also refusing changes in these coins.”
