Guwahati: Seven traders were abducted on gun point reportedly by the Garo insurgents in Assam while they were returning from a weekly market in Kharkutta region in Meghalaya.
As a normal weekly practice, the trader from Goalpara area of Assam had gone to Dokongsi market of Kharkutta to sell their goods.
After selling their goods, the traders were returning back to Assam when their Mahindra pick up van was intercepted by the armed insurgents. Seven of the traders were selectively abducted and taken inside the jungle area.
A massive combing operation is going on but so far the local police have failed to get any leads about their whereabouts.
