Fresh Ceasefire Violation by Pak in J&K

Srinagar: Continuing its regular pin-pricks across the border Pakistani troops on Sunday violated the ceasefire again in kathua and Sambha sector in the valley. The Indian troops on the other hand retaliated Pak provocation with ferocity.

Two villagers were on Sunday injured as Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire earlier in the day, targeting 14 Border Outposts (BoPs) and border hamlets in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir. “Pakistani Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing on BSF posts along the IB in Samba sector from 2105 hours last night”, a BSF officer said today, adding BSF troops carried out effective retaliation with equal calibre weapons. The Rangers fired on 14 BoPs of BSF along IB in areas in Samba sector, he said, adding that they used 82, 82 and 51 mm mortar bombs at few places along

BSF troops retaliated, resulting in exchanges which continued till 0500 hours, he said, adding that there was no loss of life to BSF troops. Two villagers were injured and hospitalised in the mortar shelling, he said. Yesterday, Pakistan had resorted to heavy firing and mortar shelling at nine Indian Border Outposts (BoPs) and civilian areas in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir. The Border Security Force(BSF) had retaliated effectively to the firing by Pakistan Rangers in which a school bus, a private minibus and tractor were also damaged and some cattle heads killed or injured, security officials said.

Later, in the evening, ceasefire violations by Pakistan resumed in Hiranagar in Kathua district and the Samba sector.A BSF spokesman said that Pakistani troops reopened firing from 1900 hours and targeted Border Outposts and civilian areas, inviting retaliation by Indian border forces.
