Freight Revenue Shines in SE Railway


New delhi: South Eastern Railway during the first five months of the current financial year i.e. from April to August, 2015 has loaded 54.24 million tonnes of revenue earning freight as against 53.22 million tonnes of freight loaded during the corresponding period of last year, thus registering a growth of 1.02 million tonnes.

The major components of this excellent loading performance were 29.62 million tonnes of Iron Ore, 10.67 million tonnes of Coal, 6.04 million tonnes of Pig Iron and Finished Steel, 3.27 million tonnes of cement, 1.95 million tonnes of Merchandised Goods, 1.03 million tonnes of Petroleum Products (POL) etc. Specially in the month of August 2015, 5.87 million tonnes of Iron Ore was loaded which is 11.60% more than the corresponding month of last year.

By dint of this remarkable loading performance, South Eastern Railway has been able to generate freight earnings of Rs.4161.61 crores which is Rs.285.28 crores more than the corresponding period of last year, thus registering a financial growth of 7.36% in this sector.
