Four Women Maoists Gunned Down in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Chhattisgarh police on Sunday morning gunned down four women Maoist at their Aranpur camp in the borders of Dantewada and Sukma districts of Maoist hotbed Bastar division.

In a joint operation conducted by district reserve guards (DRG), Special Task Force and Central Reserve Police Fore conducted in forests of Sukma and Dantewada early on Sunday, a Maoist camp was raided at Nangalguda hills on the borders of Sukma and Dantewada districts.

Dantewada SP Kamlochan Kashyap said that in a fierce encounter between Maoists and security forces, four women Maoists were shot dead. “A camp of Malangir area committee of Maoists was busted by security forces. Bodies of three women in uniforms were recovered and one in civil dress,” SP said.

There were nearly 8-10 Maoists camping in Malangir area of which four died and few sustained bullet injuries but flee from the spot. The joint operation was monitored by SP Dantewada Kamlochan Kashyap and SP Sukma D Shravan Kumar while search parties were inside the forests till the filing of this report.

Further information about identity of dead Maoists and material seized would surface soon after forces return.
