Kolkata: Four young women who allegedly ran a job racket were arrested on Thursday for duping several job aspirants by taking money from them with a promise to place them at well known MNCs but never getting them the job.
Police said Rohti Sen, Nelima Chanda, Sulagna Mukherjee and Bithika Jana were arrested from their office at Shantinagar Colony in Jadavpur on Thursday based on a complaint by one Anupam Banerjee, an MBA. He had lodged the complaint at Chitpur police station on August 22 alleging that he had paid a huge sum of money in three installments.
Police said, during investigation it was found, the company had duped several job aspirants and the money taken from them amounted to Rs. 84.6 lakh in the last few months. “Rohti was arrested earlier too in a similar fake job scam,” an officer said.
Police have seized their three bank accounts and seven cellphones. They were produced before a city court and were remanded in police custody till September 19.
