Kolkata:After a meeting with the transport secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay, a group of four taxi union is likely to stay away from the taxi strike called by the AITUC on January 28 and 29. The strike has been called to meet the demands of the taxi unions and raise the minimum fare to Rs.28 which is now stationed at Rs.25.
Keeping in mind the pitiful state of the public and their adverse opinion about the taxi drivers, these taxi unions have decided to step down from the strike as they feel it would give away negative vibes. In fact, the heads of these organizations have declared to be on duty on the days of strike.
Apart from demanding a hike in the fare, the unions have also raised a point to increase the waiting charge from one rupee twenty paisa to two rupees forty paisa.
