Four Maoists Killed In Chhattisgarh Encounter


Raipur: Four suspected members of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) were killed in an encounter with the security forces in Maoist insurgency-hit Dantewada district of south Chhattisgarh early morning on Wednesday.

“An encounter took place near Dabbakunna village of Dantewada between the Maoists and the joint forces of the District Reserve Guard, the Special Task Force and the Central Reserve Police Force today morning. Four dead bodies in Maoist uniform were recovered from the spot of the encounter,” said S.R.P. Kallur, the Inspector General (IG) of Police of restive Bastar region.

The security forces also recovered eight weapons from the dead Maoists including four rifles.

According to the IG, two out of four Maoists were identified as CPI (Maoist) 26th platoon commander Madkami Deve and Katekalyaan area committee member of the CPI (Maoist) Massa who was also an accused in the Jiram Ghati attack on the Congress party convoy in 2013.
