Bhopal: The rampant Indian team will look to maintain its stranglehold over Sri Lanka and take an unassailable 2-0 series lead when the two sides will lock horns for the second T20 international at Indore on Friday. India crushed the Lankans by 93 runs in the first T20I on Wednesday.
It had been a lack-luster performance by the islanders who crumbled to be folded out on 87 while chasing the target of 181. For India, this will be another chance for their youngsters to showcase their abilities and cement a place in the national side.
So far, Shreyas Iyer have vastly impressed with his knocks whereas Manish Pandey looked in touch during his innings in first T20I. On the other side, Lankans are continuously struggling in shorter formats while undergoing a transition period.
Indians would however look to avoid being complacent and provided tough overseas tours ahead, this will be the last opportunity to test their bench strength to get the combination right. India are playing without their regular skipper Virat Kohli along with Shikhar Dhawan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
However, their absence was hardly felt on Wednesday as youngsters like KL Rahul, Manish Pandey and Jaydev Unadkat impressed with their performances. India is currently leading 1-0 in the three match series. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m IST.
