Bhubaneswar: Former Chief Minister of Odisha Janaki Ballav Patnaik breathed his last in the wee hours of Tuesday morning at Tirupati. He was 89. He went to attend the convocation ceremony of Tirupati National Sanskrit University. He was admitted to hospital with chest pain on Monday night. He passed away on Tuesday Morning. His last rites will be performed at Puri on Tuesday.
J B Patnaik was born on 3 January 1927. He was a well-known face of the Congress in the state. He was elected to the position of the Chief Minister of Odisha in 1980 and held the post till 1989. He became the Governor of Assam in 2009. His death is a big loss to the Congress in the state. Many congress leaders have expressed grief on the death of J B Patnaik.
