Male: Former Maldives President was arrested by the authorities for his 2012 decision to arrest a senior judge.

Mohammad Nasheedm is currently the leader of the opposition. The arrest triggered violence in the island country leading to his resignation. He was arrested on Sunday at 2:45 pm.

The arrest warrant was issued by the Criminal Court and the first hearing is scheduled to be held on Monday.
