Former Maha Home Minister R R Patil passes away

Mumbai: NCP leader and former home minister of Maharashtra, R R patil passed away at Lilavati hospital in Mumbai on Monday. The was under treatment for oral cancer and was 57.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar mourned the death of R R patil terming him as an example of disciplined and simple politician. Patil hailed from a very modest farmer’s family at Tasgaon in Sangli district and was popularly known as Aaba. He also held the position of Deputy Chief minister of Maharashtra in 2004. He is best known for his stint as Home Minister the 26/11 terror attacks.He also handled the Rural Development department which brought change in the face of rural Maharashtra.

He is survived by his mother, wife, daughter and son.
