New Delhi: Y.K. Sabharwal, former Chief Justice of India passed away in Delhi on Friday evening at an age of 73 years. He is survived by two sons Chetan and Nitin. His cremation was held on Saturday.
He had held the position of the Chief Justice of India from November 1, 2005 to January 13, 2007.
He served as the Chief Justice of Bombay High court before being appaointed as a judge of the Supreme Court on January 28, 2001.
His last rites were held at Nigambodh Ghat in Delhi in the presence of family members, close friends, several sitting and retired judges. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley were also present during his last rites.
