Gaya: Former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi’s convoy was attacked today in Gaya, where there were clashes between the police and protesters over the killing of a politician, allegedly by Maoists.
Mr Manjhi was on his way to meet the family of the Lok Janshakti Party leader Sudesh Paswan, who was killed yesterday when his car was caught in the clashes. A mob threw stones at his car.
The police had to use batons and fired in the air to control the crowd.
Protesters set a vehicle in Mr Manjhi’s convoy on fire.
Mr Manjhi, a former leader of Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United, was Bihar chief minister for nine months until February last year. After he was expelled by the ruling party, he formed his own outfit.
