Footballer Poonam Chauhan Dies Due To Dengue


Varanasi: International footballer Poonam Chauhan 29-year-old, who had played in the junior and senior National Championships as many as 18 times and South Asian Games in 2010, died of dengue at a private hospital on Tuesday.

Poonam was admitted a week ago and died during her treatment yesterday at a private hospital, her family said. She was cremated at Manikarnika ghat on Thursday, they said.

The mortal remains were carried to Vivek Singh Mini Stadium in Shivpur in the morning where people paid their last tributes after which the cremation took place at Manikarnika ghat.
