New Delhi: Facebook is facing the heat after Cambridge Analytica, a British consulting company, was accused of harvesting data of up to 50 million Facebook users without permission and using the data to help politicians, including US President Donald Trump and the Brexit campaign.
If you are worried about the privacy of your personal data, you can take these steps to minimise data leak.
Download Facebook data
Facebook users can download a copy of their Facebook data (entire list). To download a copy of your Facebook data, follow these steps:
– Click at the top right of any Facebook page and select Settings.
– Click Download a copy of your Facebook data below your General Account Settings.
You can check to whether Facebook has your credit card information stored. For this, go to Settings > Payments. From there, you may choose to change or delete stored credit card information.
You can view or adjust your privacy settings at any time. In your settings, select Privacy. Here, you can control who can see your posts, who can send you friend requests, look at your friends list or whether search engines can link to your profile.
Cambridge Analytica has reportedly acquired details of user data through app. Software developers create new tools that benefit big tech companies` users, and in return they gain instant access to a large number of consumers. Got to settings >> select Apps. You will see each and every app linked to your account. You can review all the apps and choose to edit or remove them completely.
