Paris: A plane that lands on a runway and transforms swiftly into a train? It could potentially become a thing in the not-too-distant future.
The wings and top mounted engines will attach to the body and the train-plane will take off. The main body seems to be quite versatile too – the chairs can be removed to turn it into a freight carrier.
The switch from plane to public transport can often add hours to a commute, but an engineering company may have a solution to save travellers precious time.
Akka Technologies’ “Link & Fly” design is intended to make air travel more accessible and convenient. As seen in the company’s mock-up pitch above, the futuristic design sees passengers board a train-like tube at a local station.
During the ride to the airport, everyone would have their retinas scanned for security. Wings are then attached to the tube for take-off, before the vessel takes flight.
Maurice Ricci, Akka’s chief executive who’s already made millions off his innovative ideas, is already pitching the concept to several aircraft companies including Boeing
