Flood situation arises in North Bengal over consistent rainfall

Jalpaiguri: Various areas of Jalpaiguri Municipality have been flooded over constant rainfall since Saturday night. On the other hand, the levels of water in the Tista, Torsha, Kaljani and JalDhaka rivers have also risen up over the danger level. The connection between Domhoni and Kranti has been disrupted due to the consistent rainfall and the water from the Tista River entering the area. The irrigation department has issued a red alert in the unprotected areas of Tista and and yellow alert in the protected areas of Jal Dhaka.

Vehicular movement near Madarihat area in Birpara has been disrupted along the NH 31 after landslide occurred in Gerganda Bridge. Various wards of the Jalpaiguri Municipality have also been affected due to the rains. According to the reports of the Irrigation Department jalpaiguri has received 113mm, Domhani 93.6mm and Nagrakata 127.6mm rainfall till 8:30 am on Saturday morning.
