Nice: Violent floods along the French Riviera killed 13 people. Many people are still missing. Local officials said, five others are believed to have died. The River Brague burst its banks close to the city of Antibes and sent deadly waves crashing into the nearby retirement home. This cause heavy flooding occurred into the area.
French Rail Company SNCF said around a dozen trains had to be halted with hundreds on board for the safety of passengers, while roads around Antibes were also flooded, according to French emergency services.The Cannes mayor’s office said an emergency plan was now in effect, involving the mobilization of police, emergency responders and municipal services.
Forecasters at France’s weather agency said the worst storms had now passed over the French mainland and were headed for the Italian coast.
