More Flights For Winter: Aviation Regulator


New Delhi: Domestic airlines will operate more flights during the winter months compared to that of last year. 21 per cent increase in the number of flights is expected.

However, the airport availability will be lessened.76 airports will be functional only.

An official with the Director General for Civil Aviation-the aviation regulator said on Tuesday that in the winter schedule, a total of 16600 flights will be operated per week by domestic airlines this year. Last year, the toll was 13744 flights, which indicates an increase of about 20.8 per cent.

The winter schedule for the airlines begins by the end of October and continues upto the end of March the following year.
