Five more killed in Assam floods, toll rises to 36


Guwahati: Five more people have been killed in the devastating Assam floods on Friday. The deaths of Friday have risen up the toll to 36. According to local sources, one among the five dead is the residents of Morigaon village. Rest four was the residents of Dibrugarh and Goalpara.

The Disaster Management Force of Assam in a report said that in the last few months 16 lakh common people have been so far been affected in the floods. 21 villages have gone under water. Nearly 1,72,308 hectors of cultivatable land was affected due to the floods. 320 relief camps has also been prepared by the government. Nearly 2,06,676 people are presently staying in the relief camps.
