Washington: And the First Lady wore white. Melania Trump took to the Inaugural Ball stage donning a modern confection by Herve Pierre.
Having spent over fourteen years previously working at Carolina Herrera, the relatively under-the-radar Pierre worked solo with the newly minted First Lady on her sleek, minimal look for her first dance with the President.
The fitted column was complete with an off-shoulder detail and a thigh-high slit. Cinched at the waist with a red belt, the only decor was a sculptural ruffle detail that slinked down the front of her gown. She completed the look with matching white pumps, a pair of diamond earrings, and her tresses down in gentle waves with a chic side part.
Her stepdaughter, Ivanka Trump, joined the first couple on stage wearing a nude, embellished design by Herrera. The Venezuelan-American designer is known for dressing first ladies, including Jacqueline Kennedy and Michelle Obama.
Earlier in the day, the first lady sported a powder blue Ralph Lauren dress and coat as her husband was sworn in as president.
