Kolkata: Veteran Left front leader Khiti Goswami has been elected as the National Gebneral Seceretary of Revelutionary Socialist Party (RSP). Previously, he was the State general Secretary of RSP.
In the National General Convention of RSP which was going from December 1 to December 3, Goswami has been elected as the National General Secretary.
The veteran leader has worked as the Public Works Department Minister during the tenure of Left-front in West Bengal.
The former RSP state secretary Kshiti Goswami had been very critical of land acquisition though he was serving as PWD minister in Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee’s cabinet.
Later, he made a comeback in the party on request of former Chief Minister of West Bengal Jyoti Basu.
The veteran leader has gone through lot of adverse situation within the party. In the 2006 state assembly elections, Kshiti Goswami of RSP won the 151 Dhakuria assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Sougata Roy of Trinamool Congress.
Sougata Roy of Trinamool Congress defeated Kshiti Goswami of RSP in 2001. Kshiti Goswami of RSP defeated Sukhendu Sekhar Roy of Congress in 1996 in his early political career.
